Longhua Temple has the longest history and the largest scale among Buddhist monasteries in the history of Shanghai. There are four adjoining halls: The Grand Hall, The Three Sages Hall, The Hall of Maitreya and The Abbot Chamber. On the sides are the bell tower and the drum tower, arhats hall and preaching hall. Longhua Pagoda is by the side of the temple, also built during the Three Kingdoms Period. The pagoda is of brick and wood structure. It is 40-m tall with 7 stories in octagonal shape. The Longhua evening bell chimes on New Year's Day ring in the new and ring out the old. Every New Year Eve thousands of Japanese and Southeast Asian tourists come here to listen to the bell chimes. On the third day of every third lunar month the temple fair, which has a history of more than 300 years, has been carried on to this day as one of well-known folk custom festivities. |

The Shanghai Magnetic Levitated Train Line ("MAGLEV Line") is the world's first commercialized high-speed magnetic levitated transportation system. On 31 December 2002, the Shanghai MAGLEV Line completed its inaugural trip. The whole MAGLEV Liner runs only 7 minutes for 30 kilometers from Pudong International Airport to Longyang Road metro station to give the passengers a high-speed experience. At the start station of Longyang Road, the take-blue doming sunshade looks like a huge gun barrel to launch the flying dream of MAGLEV Line and welcomes the passengers to experience the exciting maximum speed of 430 km/h. |
